In the few days of a kitten’s life there is little activity other than eating, sleeping, and anuggling with mother. The kittens eyes won’t open fully until one to three weeks after birth. The queen may decide to move her litter within this period, sometimes repeatedly, responding to an instinctive urge to find better protection for them. The kittens, however, won’t begin to crawl about to any great extent until their second week; walking will occur at about three weeks, and running at four or five weeks. Also at four or five weeks, the kitten will begin to make attempts to clean itself by licking.
